New Ways for Families®: Decision Skills Class Workbook (digital version)

The workbook by Bill Eddy, LCSW, Esq. is for divorcing/separating parents who are going through a time of change, stress and lots of decisions – joint decisions. By strengthening your decision-making skills, you can bring more stability to your own life and that of your children. Many of these decisions need to be made with a former spouse or partner – referred to in this class as your “co-parent” – who may have temporary or long-term difficulty in making reasonable decisions.

This class will focus on the 4 Big Skills that are necessary for optimal decision-making, which will help you whether or not your co-parent is also using these skills. Ideally, these skills will help you both make decisions out of court, such as in mediation. However, if you end up in court, learning and practicing these skills will impress the judge. The 4 Big Skills are:

1. Communicating with BIFF Responses (moderate behaviors)

2. Calming yourself with Encouraging Statements (managed emotions)

3. Making Proposals and Responding to Proposals (flexible thinking)

4. Checking yourself (to remember to use these skills)

This is an online workbook—not a paper workbook that you'll receive in the mail. After your purchase is complete, you will have immediate access to the workbook. You are provided two options:
